CONCLUSIONS Twelve one-dimensional models used in sin- gle stratified tanks were compared. The most important characteristics of each model were explained. Each of the twelve models have ad- vantages and disadvantages. The models des- cribed by Rosen [11] required values supposed to be used. The models pro by Oppel et al. [5], Zurigat et al. [9] and Alizadeh [10] are easy to implement, there are good agreements with the comparisons of the numerical results and the experimental data, these models do not consi- der the influence of heat transfer by convection and conduction through the tank wall. On the other hand, Kadhem and Hamed [18] took into account the last consideration; also this mo- del considers the degradation of thermocline during relaxation periods. The Alizadeh’s model predicts that 1.4% of heat loss from the tank to the ambient.
