The teaching of Spanish in Cuernavaca “The City of Eternal Spring”
dates back to 1961 when Ivan Illich founded the Intercultural
Documentation Center (CIDOC), a research center that taught
language and culture courses to North American missionaries.
Shortly thereafter, the International University began its activities
with the Center for Linguistic and Multicultural Studies (CELYM),
with the mission of teaching the Spanish language and promoting the
understanding of Mexican culture, for its dissemination and defense
among the cultures and peoples of the world.
After successful results obtained from this effort, they
were ranked as the best in Spanish language teaching in Latin
America by the prestigious newspaper “The New York Times”.

foreign universities, it extended its higher education programs,
offering its facilities, equipment, teaching methods, and highly
qualified national and international faculty, as a service to the Morelos society.

The flow of students to and from abroad is a reality in Uninter, through
the exchange programs that are maintained with universities in other parts
of the world such as North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
During these 41 years, the International University has developed
its own philosophy where its graduates, in addition to being able
to develop with ease in the international environment, will be fully
qualified in their area of specialty within a business environment
of excellence. Likewise, they will be fully integrated to the Mexican
